about

All proceeds of this album of home recordings will go towards supporting the Benevolence Fund at Coram Deo Church.

I wrote the song 'Land of the Living' in the midst of what has been… a train wreck of a year. A lot of people close to me are hurting. A lot of pain in a lot of places. I wrote that song after struggling financially due to my daughter being hospitalized earlier in the year. I wrote that song and a week later a close friend of my family died in a car crash. I wrote that song and a week later I found out my sister in law was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. That song is half lament, half looking forward in hope.

Why hope? This might rub some people the wrong way. But in the midst of my own hard times, I know I've been carried by the provision of the Lord. This provision hasn't looked like money falling from the sky, or some ethereal transcendence that lifts me up above the shit. No, in the midst of these hard times - I have been cared for and loved the family and friends the Lord has put into my life. My church, Coram Deo, reached out to me in the midst of my daughter being hospitalized and offered love and financial support through their benevolence fund. That love carried me - love with roots that go deep down to calvary. Love I am very thankful for.
